Thirst’s redesign of MAS Context opened each issue up for collaboration by inviting a select group of Chicago designers each to design an article. Like the essence of the publication, the design of each issue will be a compilation using Thirst's new design guidelines.
Our process started with an audit of the past 5 years of publications, and best practices in publication design. We then developed a system that would function as a kit of parts for the design of the issue.
We believe this publication will become an on-going mirror of the Chicago design community in response to the global content of Mas Context.
MAS Context is a quarterly journal created by MAS Studio, that addresses issues affecting the urban context. Each issue delivers a comprehensive view of a single topic through the active participation of people from different fields and different perspectives who, together, instigate the debate.
