Riffing on Sun Ra

To acknowledge the 2014 Poetry Foundation Pegasus Awards celebrating Nathaniel Mackey, recipient of the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize, Rick Valicenti responded with a limited edition 12 x 12" broadside set for banquet attendees.

 Mackey's interest in the Sun Ra canon provided Valicenti a point of departure. The published settings of Mackey poems along with the Poetry Foundation's graphic guidelines designed by Winterhouse, served as visual boundaries.
