Suburban Maul is a self-published photo essay commenting on the commercialization of the suburbs, fueled by the rise and fall of the McMansion. Simply by documenting homes withing a 5-mile radius of Barrington Hills, Illinois and conflating them with nationally branded retail signage seen within a 10-mile radius, Valicenti proposes a possible real estate re-use for those who's lust for status and the American Dream vanished during the economic downturn.
