The 36th Annual Interiors Awards ceremony is the Academy Awards of Interior Design featuring thirteen categories. Thirst, led by John Pobojewski, created over 25 minutes of content to introduce each category along with a portfolio of the winning works. Each of the thirteen award videos featured a unique animation, a soundtrack by Pobojewski, custom lettering, and the hard contrast of black and white which energized the spirit of this year's event.
The catalytic push and pull between business and design — in fashion, dance, and different architectural motifs — all informed the design.
To reinforce the year's theme, we assigned business to white shapes and design to black shapes — seeing them as opposite sides of the brain coming together to fuse, spark, and catalyze in full technicolor.
A custom alphabet is used for all messaging, constructed of 45°, 90°, and 180° angles. These three lines conceptually represent the worlds of design, business, and the space in between.
Throughout the animation, visual patterns take their inspiration from the textiles of the conference table — pinstripes, tweeds, and herringbones.
