CHGO DSGN presents Artistry
Works in Process
A live-action printmaking demonstration highlighting specialty printing techniques.
Rick Valicenti invited seven Chicago designers to create a compelling impression which Philip and Mike Gattuso, both craftsmen at Artistry Engraving & Embossing, would produce as part of a limited edition keepsake. Over a September weekend, Artistry opened their making process to the Chicago Design public.

Curator’s Statement
Designed messages mirror popular culture.
This creative brief comes to you at a time when there is no escaping news of reoccurring senseless acts of violence. A tenuous balance hangs between love and hate, race and authority, understanding and misunderstanding. Please respond on an 8x10 sheet of paper.
Knowing we approach the climax of a contentious and revealing moment in our very polarized America, the vibe of your submission should be one of reflection and respect.
Few designers have changed the world, but we can (and should) illuminate truths to awaken humankind.
Contact Philip Gattuso at Artistry (impress@artistryink.com) for one of 100 keepsakes while the edition lasts.
